Treatment of hypertension
This medication is used for the treatment of hypertension. It can be taken alone or in combination with other antihypertensives such as beta-blockers or diuretics to effectively lower blood pressure. This helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases and improves health.
1. Adults The therapeutic dose of this medicine should be adjusted appropriately according to the patient's response and severity of symptoms. The initial dose is 2 mg of lacidipine once daily. It should be taken at the same time every day, preferably in the morning, regardless of meals. If a dose increase is needed, increase to 4 mg once daily after an appropriate period has elapsed to allow adequate assessment of the pharmacological effect. Increase to 6 mg once daily only if blood pressure is not controlled with 4 mg once daily. The period before deciding on an increase should generally be at least 3 ~ 4 weeks, the time required for this medicine to achieve its full pharmacological effect, except in patients who require a more rapid increase. If an adequate response is not achieved, another antihypertensive agent may be added (a beta-blocker and/or a diuretic). 2. Patients with hepatic impairment Because this medicine is metabolized mainly in the liver, its bioavailability and blood pressure-lowering effect may be increased in patients with hepatic impairment. These patients should be monitored carefully, and a reduction in the initial dose is recommended. 3. Patients with renal impairment Since this medicine is not excreted through the kidneys, no dose adjustment is necessary in patients with renal impairment. 4. Older adults The initial dose is 2 mg once daily. If needed, the dose may be increased to 4 mg once daily after 4 weeks.
There is no experience with the use of this medicine in children.

Also, suddenly stopping this medication may worsen symptoms, so when discontinuing, it should be done gradually under the direction of a physician. There may be interactions when taken with other medications, so it is crucial to inform the doctor or pharmacist if taking other antihypertensives, antibiotics, antidepressants, etc. Particularly, care should be taken as the effect of this medication may change when taken with grapefruit juice. This medication is not recommended for use in pregnant or nursing women, and its safety in children has not been established. In case of overdose, blood pressure may drop too low, or there may be disturbances in heart rhythm, so the dosage must be strictly followed, and if abnormal symptoms occur, medical attention should be sought immediately.
