Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with a history of allergy to cephalosporin antibiotics. In patients with a history of hypersensitivity to penicillin or other beta-lactam antibiotics, those with allergic predispositions, patients with severely impaired renal function, those who have difficulty with oral intake or the elderly, and those in poor general condition, cautious administration is required. While taking this medication, adverse allergic reactions may occur, such as skin rashes, urticaria, itching, fever, and difficulty breathing. If any abnormal symptoms arise, consult a physician immediately. Gastrointestinal and neurological adverse reactions such as headaches, dizziness, diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal pain may occur, so caution is necessary. Regular tests are needed as this medication can affect liver and kidney function, and if abnormalities are found, discontinuation of the medication should be followed by appropriate treatment. Long-term use of this medication may lead to excessive proliferation of Candida or other non-susceptible bacteria; treatment should be discontinued if symptoms appear. If diarrhea persists during or after the use of the antibiotic, or if severe abdominal pain occurs, there is a possibility of pseudomembranous colitis, so contact healthcare professionals immediately. This medication may cause dizziness; caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication after consulting a physician when benefits outweigh risks, and caution is also needed during breastfeeding. Safety for infants under 3 months has not been established. Due to the unpleasant taste if the tablets are crushed, using a dry syrup formulation is recommended for young children who cannot swallow tablets. Elderly patients may experience more adverse reactions due to decreased body function; therefore, dosage and intervals should be adjusted, and careful monitoring is required. Co-administration with other medications may affect kidney function, so it is essential to inform healthcare providers of any other medications being taken. In case of overdose, seizures due to brain stimulation may occur; adherence to the prescribed dosage is essential, and during storage, keep it in its original container in a cool place out of reach of children.
