How to take

Adult dose

For severe infections and respiratory infections in adults, take 2 tablets orally every 12 hours (two times a day). Dosage may be reduced according to the degree of renal function in renal impairment patients. However, patients with severe renal impairment (glomerular filtration rate less than 30 mL/min) should not receive this medication.

Precautions

This medication is a beta-lactam antibiotic and should not be administered to patients with hypersensitivity to penicillins or cephalosporins. Additionally, patients with viral infections such as infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia are at risk of side effects such as rash. Caution is needed for patients with a history of liver function issues, as this drug may reactivate liver dysfunction. Patients with liver dysfunction could experience worsening liver function and should be administered carefully, and patients with moderate or severe renal impairment may require dose adjustments due to increased drug concentration. Patients with allergic predispositions or symptoms such as asthma, urticaria, etc., should be cautious, as side effects may occur when using this medication. Careful use is warranted for patients with gastrointestinal diseases such as vomiting or diarrhea as drug absorption may be compromised. This drug can cause gastrointestinal side effects such as diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, and in rare cases, serious side effects like pseudomembranous colitis or acute pancreatitis may occur. Liver function abnormalities may appear, especially in the elderly or males, thus regular liver function tests are important. Allergic reactions can lead to skin rashes, urticaria, and in severe cases, Stevens-Johnson syndrome or anaphylactic shock, requiring immediate discontinuation of the drug at first sign of abnormal symptoms. Blood-related side effects such as leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, and anemia may occur rarely, and caution is necessary. Central nervous system side effects such as rare headaches, dizziness, and seizures may appear, with increased risk in patients with renal impairment or those receiving high doses. Since this drug is excreted through the kidneys, patients with renal impairment should be routinely monitored for kidney function and discontinue administration if abnormalities arise. Changes in intestinal flora due to antibiotic use may reduce the effectiveness of oral contraceptives; alternative contraceptive methods should be considered if necessary. It is preferable to avoid the use of this drug during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester, and caution is required during breastfeeding, as infants may experience diarrhea or allergic reactions. The elderly may show side effects more readily due to decreased physiological function; hence, doses and intervals must be adjusted and carefully monitored. Overdose may result in gastrointestinal symptoms, renal failure, seizures, and hypersensitivity shock; in such cases, immediate discontinuation and appropriate treatment are required. This medication should be stored in a sealed container to prevent humidity and kept in a dry place below 25 degrees Celsius. Regular checks for liver function, kidney function, and blood tests are important to monitor for potential side effects during prolonged use.
