Precautions

This drug must not be mixed or administered simultaneously with solutions or medications containing calcium. In particular, it should never be administered to newborns, as the drug can precipitate when combined with calcium, causing severe side effects. It should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to this drug or those allergic to cephalosporins or penicillin antibiotics. Additionally, it should not be given to premature infants, newborns with jaundice or hypoalbuminemia, and newborns receiving calcium solutions. Caution is advised for patients with a history of drug allergies, allergic constitution, or severe renal impairment, and dosage adjustment and modification of administration intervals may be necessary. Regular blood tests and evaluations of liver and kidney function are important while using this drug to detect adverse reactions early. The drug may cause various side effects, such as pain at the injection site, rash, diarrhea, increased liver enzymes, and decreased blood cells, so symptoms should be reported immediately. If allergic reactions or shock symptoms occur, administration should be stopped immediately, and emergency treatment should be sought. This drug may affect the nervous system, causing dizziness or headaches; caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should consult a physician before using this drug, and it should not be given to newborns and premature infants due to the risk of bilirubin encephalopathy. Moreover, it is administered only by intravenous injection, employing separate injection ports for calcium-containing solutions while thoroughly cleaning the injection ports before and after use. There is no antidote for overdose, so treatment should be symptomatic, and interactions with other medications should be carefully monitored. Particularly, patients with impaired renal function or the elderly require careful dosage adjustments and monitoring.
