Precautions

This medication should not be administered to individuals who are hypersensitive to penicillin or beta-lactam antibiotics or have a history of severe allergic reactions. Caution should be exercised for patients who have viral infections like infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia, as there is a risk of rash. Patients with a history of liver dysfunction or jaundice due to this drug or penicillin should avoid using it due to the risk of recurrence. This drug contains lactose, so it should not be given to patients with genetic issues such as lactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Patients with impaired liver function should be treated cautiously as it may worsen liver function. Patients with moderate or severe renal impairment should extend the dosing interval as the drug may remain in the body for a longer time. Caution is needed for patients with a predisposition to allergies or those prone to asthma, rashes, or hives. Patients with severe gastrointestinal diseases causing vomiting or diarrhea should be cautious as the absorption of the drug may not be adequate. Gastrointestinal side effects may occur, such as diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain; in severe cases, pseudomembranous colitis may develop, so if symptoms become severe, discontinue the medication immediately and consult a physician. Signs of liver dysfunction may also appear, particularly in the elderly or males, so regular liver function tests are necessary during prolonged use. Rarely, skin rashes, itching, and severe skin reactions may occur; if such symptoms appear, discontinue use and follow the physician's instructions. Blood tests may show leukopenia and thrombocytopenia, necessitating examination if any abnormal symptoms appear. Cases of central nervous system disturbances such as anxiety, drowsiness, or seizures have been rarely reported, especially if renal function is impaired, caution is required. Patients with renal impairment may experience acute renal failure or hematuria, so regular monitoring is necessary. Due to the use of antibiotics, dysbiosis may occur, such as oral candidiasis, requiring symptomatic treatment. There may be a tendency for bleeding due to vitamin K deficiency, so caution is needed for any bleeding symptoms. This drug may interact with other medications, so it is essential to inform the physician or pharmacist if taking other medications. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should avoid this medication unless otherwise specified; caution is also necessary for breastfeeding mothers as side effects may occur in the infant. The safety in children, especially newborns under 2 months or preterm infants, has not been established, so caution should be exercised. Elderly patients have a higher risk of adverse reactions due to decreased body functions, so dosage and administration intervals should be adjusted carefully.
