Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity or a history of allergic reactions to any of its components. In patients with gastrointestinal issues such as gastrointestinal bleeding, mechanical obstruction, or perforation, the gastrointestinal motility stimulant effect of this medication could be harmful, therefore it should not be administered. Severe allergic reactions, such as shock or anaphylaxis, may occur with the use of this medication, so symptoms should be monitored closely. Liver dysfunction or jaundice symptoms may also arise; hence liver function test results should be checked, and if abnormalities are discovered, administration should be stopped. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, and increased saliva may occur, so caution is needed if symptoms arise. Neurological and psychiatric symptoms, such as headache, anxiety, sleep disturbances, and dizziness, have also been reported, so monitoring for these symptoms is necessary. Endocrine abnormalities such as gynecomastia or elevated prolactin levels may occur; if abnormal symptoms appear, administration should be stopped. There may be blood disorders such as thrombocytopenia or leukopenia; thus, regular blood tests should be conducted to monitor the condition. This medication may affect kidney function, so it is recommended to periodically check BUN and creatinine levels. Hypersensitivity reactions such as rash, erythema, and itching may occur infrequently; if these symptoms appear, administration should be stopped. Extrapyramidal symptoms such as tremors may appear; consult a physician immediately if any abnormal symptoms occur. Chest pain or fatigue may also occasionally appear; hence, these symptoms should be monitored closely. Since this medication enhances the action of acetylcholine, it should be used with this in mind, and if gastrointestinal symptoms do not improve, long-term use is not recommended. If taken with anticholinergics, the effect of this medication may be reduced, so it is necessary to adjust the intervals of administration accordingly. Safety during pregnancy has not been established, so it should only be used when the therapeutic benefits outweigh the risks; during breastfeeding, this medication may be excreted in breast milk, so it should be avoided or breastfeeding should be discontinued. Safety in children has not been sufficiently confirmed, so it should be used cautiously. In elderly patients, decreased bodily function may make abnormal reactions more likely, so careful monitoring and dose adjustments as needed are necessary during administration. This medication should be stored in a safe place out of reach of children, and care should be taken not to transfer it to other containers, as this may cause accidents or degradation of quality.
