Precautions

This drug should not be used by individuals who are allergic to this drug or its components. It contains lactose, so individuals with galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take it. This drug contains the pigment Yellow No. 5, and individuals with a history of allergy to this component should use it cautiously. Serious allergic reactions such as shock or anaphylaxis may occur during treatment, so if symptoms like low blood pressure, altered consciousness, shortness of breath, or rash appear, discontinue use immediately and seek medical attention. Leukopenia or thrombocytopenia may occur, resulting in fever, sore throat, or bleeding tendencies; stop taking the drug if these symptoms appear. Monitor liver function closely as issues may arise, such as jaundice or increased liver enzyme levels. Respiratory symptoms like fever, cough, and shortness of breath may indicate interstitial pneumonia or eosinophilic pneumonia, so discontinue the drug and seek appropriate treatment. Severe muscle problems like myalgia or rhabdomyolysis may occur, so stop taking the drug immediately if these symptoms appear. Symptoms such as rash, urticaria, pruritus, and erythema multiforme may occur, so if any unusual symptoms arise, stop taking the drug and seek treatment. Neuropsychiatric symptoms such as tremors, seizures, agitation, anxiety, headache, drowsiness, dizziness, insomnia, paresthesia, and taste disturbances may occur. Gastrointestinal issues such as nausea, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, diarrhea, vomiting, heartburn, loss of appetite, constipation, and stomatitis may occur. Cardiovascular symptoms such as arrhythmia, palpitations, and facial flushing may rarely present. Urinary symptoms may include proteinuria, hematuria, and urination difficulties, so caution is advised. Additionally, various side effects such as rigidity, weakness, weight gain, hair loss, and menstrual irregularities have been reported. While treating bronchial asthma and allergic rhinitis, side effects like rash, itching, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and liver function abnormalities may also occur, so caution is needed. This drug does not relieve an ongoing asthma attack like bronchodilators or steroids, and patients should be informed of this. If asthma attacks worsen, additional bronchodilators or steroids may need to be used. Patients on long-term steroid therapy should reduce the steroid dosage gradually when taking this drug. After reducing the steroid dosage, stopping this drug may risk exacerbation of the original condition. Severe side effects such as vasculitis may occur with the use of leukotriene antagonists, including this drug, so blood tests and changes in symptoms should be closely monitored. Mental health issues, such as depression, suicidal thoughts, and aggressive behavior, have also been reported, so patient status should be observed closely after administration. Caution is needed to avoid long-term use if no effect is observed. This drug is metabolized by specific enzymes (CYP3A4) in the liver, so taking with other drugs that affect these enzymes can alter drug concentrations. Particularly, caution should be exercised when taken with drugs like itraconazole and erythromycin due to the risk of increased blood concentration. Pregnant women or those who might become pregnant should only take this medication if the benefits outweigh the risks, as safety has not been fully established. Safety in children, infants, and low birth weight infants has not been adequately confirmed, so use should be cautious. Elderly individuals may have decreased bodily function, so it is advisable to reduce the dosage. Finally, this drug should be stored out of reach of children, and transferring it to another container may compromise its quality; it should be kept in its original packaging.
