Treatment of hypertension and kidney disease (in patients with type 2 diabetes)
This medication is used to stabilize blood pressure in patients with hypertension. Additionally, in patients with type 2 diabetes who have hypertension and kidney disease, it helps protect kidney function and slows the progression of kidney disease. Therefore, it is effective in improving kidney issues caused by hypertension and diabetes.
This medication can be taken with or without food, but it is recommended to take it at the same time every day. For the treatment of hypertension, the initial and maintenance dose is recommended as 50 mg once daily of Losartan Potassium. The maximum blood pressure-lowering effect appears 3 to 6 weeks after starting treatment. If the therapeutic effect is insufficient, the dose can be divided and taken twice a day or increased up to 100 mg once daily if necessary. For treating kidney disease in patients with hypertension and type 2 diabetes, the usual dose is 1 daily.
For children and adolescents over 6 years old weighing between 20 kg and under 50 kg, the dosage is 25 mg once daily, with a maximum increase to 50 mg once daily. For those weighing 50 kg and over, the usual dosage is 1 daily.
