Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with a history of severe allergic reactions or shock due to its components. Patients with a history of allergy to this medication or other cephem antibiotics, those allergic to penicillin antibiotics, or individuals with a tendency to easily exhibit allergic symptoms such as asthma, rash, or hives should use this medication cautiously. Patients with very reduced kidney function may have delayed excretion of this medication and should use a reduced dose or increased dosing interval. Patients who have difficulty taking medications orally or who are receiving parenteral nutrition and those in poor general condition should be monitored closely for vitamin K deficiency symptoms. In the elderly, bodily functions may be reduced, so dosing and intervals should be adjusted while monitoring their condition closely. Serious side effects such as shock, anaphylaxis symptoms, acute renal failure, blood abnormalities, severe colitis, skin and mucous membrane syndrome, interstitial pneumonia, serious liver dysfunction, rhabdomyolysis, and hypoglycemia may occur during the administration of this medication; therefore, if any unusual symptoms appear, administration should be stopped immediately and consulted with a healthcare professional. To prevent antibiotic resistance during treatment, it is important to perform susceptibility testing and only use the minimum necessary duration. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should use this medication only if the benefits of treatment are deemed greater than the risks. The safety of this medication in children, especially underweight newborns, has not been established, so caution is needed. This medication may affect some clinical test results, so healthcare professionals should be informed of its use during tests.
