This medication should not be used in patients with severe ketosis or diabetic coma. It is also advisable not to administer this medication to patients with severe infections or during the perioperative period, as well as to severely traumatized patients. Abdominal bloating or increased flatulence may occur, and symptoms like intestinal obstruction may also appear, so these should be carefully monitored. Liver function disorders may occur, requiring regular testing of liver enzyme levels and symptom monitoring. In particular, patients with severe liver cirrhosis need to pay close attention to bowel movements, as constipation may worsen hyperammonemia. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting may occur, and rare allergic reactions like rash or itching may also be seen. Neurological symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, drowsiness have also been reported. This medication is only for patients diagnosed with diabetes and should be used cautiously in patients with similar symptoms that are not diabetes. Blood sugar control should be regularly checked, and if there is insufficient effect after 2-3 months of use, other treatment options should be considered. Nursing mothers are advised to avoid using this medication and should discontinue breastfeeding if use is unavoidable.
