This medication is used to relieve various symptoms caused by allergic rhinitis, also known as nasal inflammation.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older should take 120 mg of fexofenadine hydrochloride orally once a day before meals with water. Patients with renal impairment should take 60 mg orally once a day before meals as the starting dose.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy of this medication in children under 12 years of age have not been established.

Precautions

This medication should not be used by patients who have an allergic reaction to this drug or its components. Patients with poor kidney function, the elderly, or those with heart disease or a history of such conditions should be cautious when using this medication. Headaches are the most common side effect experienced with this medication, and symptoms such as drowsiness, dizziness, and nausea may also occur in some patients. Rarely, allergic reactions such as fatigue, insomnia, irritability, sleep disturbances, nightmares, skin rashes, hives, itching, angioedema, and shortness of breath might occur, so if any unusual symptoms appear, consult a physician immediately. Severe allergic reactions or shock may occur; therefore, if symptoms such as shortness of breath, low blood pressure, skin swelling, chest pain, or skin redness arise, discontinue medication and seek immediate treatment. This medication may affect liver function, leading to elevated liver enzymes or jaundice symptoms, so it is essential to periodically check liver health. It is generally known to not impair driving or machine operation; however, sensitive individuals should exercise caution after taking this medication. When taking this drug with others, interactions may occur, especially when taken with certain antibiotics, antacids, or fruit juices, so it is advised to adjust the timing of ingestion accordingly. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should consult a physician before using this medication, and nursing mothers are advised to avoid this medicine. The safety for children or pediatric patients under 12 years of age has not been sufficiently confirmed, so caution is required in usage. In case of overdose, symptomatic treatment is necessary, and it is difficult to eliminate this drug through blood dialysis. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and should not be transferred to another container, as this may degrade its quality.

Headache, drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, insomnia, irritability, sleep disturbances, nightmares, rash, itching, diarrhea, dry mouth, abdominal pain, sensory disturbances, constipation, sinusitis, tachycardia, palpitations, flushing (redness due to increased blood flow)
