Summary

Main use
Improvement of symptoms of chronic arterial occlusive disease (e.g., ulcers and pain); treatment of primary pulmonary hypertension
Who takes it
Adults
Adult dose
Improvement of ulcers, pain, and coldness associated with chronic arterial occlusive disease (Buerger's disease, arteriosclerosis obliterans, diabetic peripheral vascular disease, etc.): The usual adult dose is 0.12mg (6 tablets) of beraprost sodium per day, divided into 3 doses (2 tablets per dose), administered orally after meals. Primary pulmonary hypertension: 1) The usual adult initial dose is 0.06mg (3 tablets) of beraprost sodium per day, divided into 3 doses (1 tablet per dose), administered orally after meals. The dose is then gradually increased while carefully observing symptoms (adverse reactions). If the dose is increased, administer 3-4 times daily, up to a maximum dose of 0.18mg (9 tablets) per day. 2) As patients vary in their tolerance to the medicine, start this product at a low dose and carefully monitor the patient's condition when increasing the dose. 3) Because this product is an oral formulation, it may be ineffective in patients with severe symptoms. If hemodynamic parameters and/or clinical symptoms do not improve sufficiently, appropriate treatment should be provided, such as switching to an injectable formulation or other therapy.
