Improvement of hypercholesterolemia and sitosterolemia (total cholesterol, LDL-C, etc.)
This medicine is used as an adjunct to diet for lowering total cholesterol and bad cholesterol (LDL cholesterol) and apolipoprotein B levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia. It is also useful for patients with mixed dyslipidemia and can enhance the effect when used in combination with fenofibrate. For patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia or homozygous sitosterolemia, this medicine can be used alone or in conjunction with other treatments. It should be used in conjunction with an appropriate diet, and it is important to exclude and treat other secondary causes. Additionally, lipid levels should be monitored before and after treatment to assess the patient's condition. This medicine is effective in improving hypercholesterolemia and related dyslipidemic conditions.
The dosage is 10 mg once a day, administered regardless of meals.
This medicine should not be used by patients allergic to its components. It is advisable not to take this medicine with certain lipid-lowering agents in patients with liver problems or abnormal liver enzyme levels. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should be cautious, as the combination of this medicine with certain lipid-lowering agents is prohibited. This medicine is not recommended for patients with moderate to severe liver impairment, and regular liver function tests should be performed. This medicine may cause muscle-related side effects such as myalgia or muscle weakness, so if these symptoms occur, patients should consult a physician immediately. Patients with severely impaired kidney function should also use this medicine with caution, and dosage adjustments may be necessary if required. This medicine may interact with certain drugs, so it is essential to inform the doctor or pharmacist if other medications are being taken. It is not recommended for children, especially those under 6 years of age, and should be used in children aged 6 and older according to a physician's directive. Elderly patients can use this medicine but should do so with caution considering the potential for age-related side effects. In cases of overdose, there are no specific antidotes, and appropriate treatment should be obtained based on symptoms, and the medication should be kept out of reach of children.
Urticaria, severe swelling (edema), skin and mucosal syndrome (Stevens-Johnson syndrome), toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell syndrome), severe skin adverse reactions including polymorphic erythema (SCARs), drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS), liver abnormalities (jaundice), hepatitis, severe allergic reactions, rhabdomyolysis, myopathy, persistent elevation of aminotransferase levels, blood disorders (thrombocytopenia), pancreatitis
