- Adult dose
- Always administer immediately after a meal. The method of administration varies by condition, but for most indications, gradual dose escalation is desirable to minimize adverse reactions and achieve the maximum effect. The usual dose-escalation regimen is as follows. On the first day, administer 1.25mg of bromocriptine at bedtime. After the next 2∼3 days, administer 1.25mg in the morning and evening. Thereafter, increase the dose by 1.25mg every 2∼3 days until a maintenance dose of 2.5mg per dose twice daily is reached. If needed, increase the dose in the same manner (by 1.25mg every 2∼3 days). (Recommended doses by condition) ○ Prevention and suppression of lactation Administer according to the dose-escalation regimen above; the maintenance dose is 2.5mg of this medicine in the morning and evening. ○ Hypogonadism, galactorrhea, infertility Administer according to the dose-escalation regimen above. For most patients with hyperprolactinemia, a total daily dose of 7.5mg of this medicine in divided doses is sufficient, but the daily dose may be increased to 30mg if needed. For infertile patients without elevated serum prolactin levels, the usual dose is 2.5mg per dose twice daily. ○ Various symptoms of menstrual irregularities Administer according to the dose-escalation regimen above; the maintenance dose is 2.5mg per dose twice daily. ○ Acromegaly After administration according to the dose-escalation regimen above, increase the dose by 2.5mg every 2~3 days as follows. For 2∼3 days: 2.5mg per dose, 3 times daily For 2∼3 days: 2.5mg per dose, 4 times daily For 2∼3 days: 5mg per dose, 4 times daily ○ Parkinson’s disease Start with a low dose of 1.25mg at bedtime during the first week. Increase the dose by 1.25∼2.5mg at weekly intervals until the maintenance dose reaches 10∼15 mg per day. The usual dose for most patients is 10∼15mg per day, but it may be increased to 30∼40mg if needed. When this medicine is added to treatment in patients receiving levodopa, gradually reduce the levodopa dose while gradually increasing this medicine until the optimal balance is achieved. Adjust the dose appropriately according to age and symptoms.
