Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients who have experienced severe allergic reactions or shock from this medication in the past. It should also not be administered to patients who have had allergic reactions to cephalosporin antibiotics or those with infectious mononucleosis. In patients with a history of hypersensitivity, it is generally not recommended, but if absolutely necessary, it should be administered with extreme caution. Patients allergic to penicillin antibiotics or those with a family history of easily developing allergic symptoms should also be cautious. Patients with severely compromised renal function, those unable to take orally, elderly patients, and patients in poor general condition should be monitored closely as they may show signs of vitamin K deficiency. Patients with gastrointestinal disorders, especially those with a history of colitis, should also use this medication with caution. Rarely, shock or severe allergic reactions may occur while using this medication; therefore, if any unusual symptoms appear, administration should be stopped immediately and appropriate treatment should be administered. Changes in blood cell counts, hepatic dysfunction, renal impairment, severe colitis, respiratory issues, stomatitis, neurological symptoms, etc., can occur, so symptoms should be monitored carefully. Severe skin reactions may especially occur, so the condition of the skin should be monitored, and signs of vitamin deficiency may also rarely occur. To prevent the emergence of resistant bacteria, it is recommended to determine the susceptibility of the infecting organism and use this medication for only the minimum necessary duration. Due to the risk of hypersensitivity, a thorough medical history investigation is needed before administration, and if an allergic reaction occurs, the medication should be stopped immediately and appropriate treatment should be given. With long-term use, regular tests of blood, renal, and hepatic function should be conducted to check for abnormalities. In patients with decreased renal function, dosage adjustments may be necessary, and caution is needed as neurological side effects such as seizures may occur. When used with other nephrotoxic drugs or diuretics, the risk of renal damage may increase, so caution should be exercised. Additionally, certain medications may increase the plasma concentration of this drug, so caution is warranted. Women who are pregnant or capable of becoming pregnant should only use this medication when the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks, as its safety has not been established. Breastfeeding women should also be cautious when using this medication. Elderly patients may experience abnormal reactions more easily due to decreased body function, and the risk of bleeding related to vitamin K deficiency may also increase, so dosage and administration interval should be adjusted carefully. This medication may also affect the results of certain clinical tests, so caution should be taken when interpreting test results. Lastly, sensitivity to light may increase while using this medication, so it is advisable to avoid sun exposure.
