Improvement of estrogen deficiency symptoms after menopause and prevention of osteoporosis
This medication helps alleviate various symptoms caused by estrogen deficiency in women after menopause. It is also used to prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women at high risk of fractures.
This medication is taken as one tablet daily at the same time each day. It is recommended to take the tablet with water or other beverages and adhere to the same time daily. If a dose is missed, take it immediately if it is within 12 hours. If more than 12 hours have passed, take it at the next regular time.
This medication should not be used by patients who are allergic to certain components. Women who are pregnant, may become pregnant, or are breastfeeding should not take this medication. Patients with estrogen-dependent tumors such as breast cancer or endometrial cancer, or those with a history of such tumors, should be cautious as this medication may worsen the tumors. Individuals with cerebrovascular diseases, thrombophlebitis, thromboembolism, heart diseases, or a history of such conditions should not use this medication. This medication should also not be taken in cases of unexplained abnormal genital bleeding. It may not be suitable for patients with liver dysfunction or endometriosis. Additionally, individuals with lactose intolerance or certain genetic metabolic disorders should avoid this medication due to the lactose it contains. Patients with a history of renal failure, epilepsy, or migraines should use this medication with caution as it may cause fluid retention. Caution is also required for patients with heart failure or hypertension or a history of such conditions. Patients with hypercholesterolemia may experience changes in blood lipids, and those with carbohydrate metabolism disorders may need to adjust their insulin or hypoglycemic agent dosages due to potential impacts on blood sugar control. During the use of this medication, vaginal bleeding or spotting may occur, and there have been reports of potential risks of endometrial hyperplasia or uterine cancer. Neurological symptoms such as dizziness, depression, headaches, and migraines may appear. Gastrointestinal issues may lead to gastric disturbances or abdominal pain, and musculoskeletal symptoms such as joint pain or muscle pain may also be experienced. Skin reactions including rashes, itching, seborrheic dermatitis, and increased facial hair growth may occur. Visual disturbances could result in blurred vision, and there may be changes in liver function test values or the development of cholestatic jaundice. Due to the risk of thromboembolism, caution is necessary, and symptoms like weight change or edema may also be observed. This medication is not a contraceptive; therefore, it should not be used for contraceptive purposes and may cause disruptions in the menstrual cycle in premenopausal women, so it is not prescribed to them. Regular health checks should be performed at least every six months while undergoing hormone therapy. Exceeding the recommended dosage can lead to vaginal bleeding, and the recommended dosage should be adhered to, as higher doses may require additional hormone treatment. If symptoms of thromboembolism or liver function abnormalities, or cholestatic jaundice arise, administration should be stopped immediately. If surgery or prolonged immobilization occurs, it is advised to discontinue this medication at least four weeks prior. Women over 35 who smoke are at higher risk of thromboembolism, heart disease, and liver tumors, necessitating regular examination. This medication may enhance the effects of anticoagulants due to increased actions related to blood coagulation; hence caution is required. Co-administration with drugs inducing hepatic enzymes may reduce the efficacy of this medication, possibly requiring dosage adjustments. It may also affect blood sugar control, thus dosage modifications for insulin or hypoglycemic agents might be necessary. Furthermore, in combination with certain anticonvulsants, it may become difficult to control seizures, hence consultation with a physician is important. Pregnant, potentially pregnant, or breastfeeding women should not take this medication, as harmful effects on the fetus have been reported in animal studies. Overdosage may result in symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and bleeding; since there is no specific antidote, it is crucial to receive treatment corresponding to the symptoms. Long-term use may lead to the development of liver tumors, and if a liver tumor ruptures, it could cause internal bleeding, so caution is warranted. High-dose hormone intake may increase the risk of endometrial and breast cancer, thus regular check-ups and management are essential.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to prevent air ingress and kept at a cool temperature below 25 degrees Celsius. Proper storage will help maintain the effectiveness of the medication over time.
