Precautions

This medication should not be used in children under 6 years of age. This medication contains a dye called Yellow No. 5, so persons who are allergic or have had hypersensitivity reactions to this component should exercise caution. Drowsiness may occur while taking this medication, so it is advisable to avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery. Symptoms such as mental fatigue, numbness in hands and feet, or unsteadiness may rarely occur, so caution is necessary. It may affect the gastrointestinal tract and cause symptoms such as dry mouth, discomfort in the stomach, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, constipation, and diarrhea. Rarely, symptoms such as facial flushing or difficulty breathing may occur. Since it can affect liver function, there is a potential for elevated liver enzyme levels. If an allergic reaction such as a rash appears on the skin, use should be stopped immediately. Difficulties in urination or urinary symptoms such as hematuria, frequent urination may also happen rarely. Leukocytosis may be observed in blood tests, so caution is needed. Other side effects such as swelling or menstrual irregularities may also occur. Patients undergoing long-term steroid treatment should be careful when reducing their steroid dosage while using this medication. It is important to understand that this medication is not an immediate relief treatment for sudden bronchial asthma attacks. For seasonal allergies, it is advisable to start taking this medication before symptoms begin and continue until symptoms resolve. Combining with alcohol can enhance the sedative effect of the medication, so alcohol should be avoided. Caution is also required when used with a medication called cimetidine. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully weigh the risks and benefits of using this medication; high-dose administration in animal studies has been associated with birth defects. Breastfeeding mothers should avoid using this medication if possible, as it may be transmitted through breast milk, and if necessary to use it, it is advisable to discontinue breastfeeding. Safety has not been sufficiently established for premature infants, newborns, infants, and young children, so caution is necessary. Elderly patients may have reduced physical function, so it is advisable to use a lower dose. Be aware that this medication may have a bitter taste.
