Precautions

This drug is an antibiotic that kills certain bacteria. Individuals who have experienced shock from this drug or have allergies to this drug or similar classes of antibiotics should not use it. Those with allergies to penicillin antibiotics or a tendency to have allergic reactions such as asthma, rashes, and hives should use this drug with caution. Patients with severely impaired kidney function, those who have difficulty eating, the elderly, and individuals in poor overall condition should be closely monitored for symptoms of vitamin K deficiency while taking this medication. Caution is necessary for those with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, especially colitis. This drug can rarely cause severe shock or allergic reactions, so if symptoms occur during treatment, discontinue use immediately and seek appropriate medical care. Serious skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome may occur, so skin conditions should be monitored closely. Blood tests may show changes in white blood cell, red blood cell, and platelet counts, so if any abnormal symptoms occur, contact medical staff immediately. Regular tests and monitoring are necessary as this drug may affect liver or kidney function, and discontinuation should be considered if abnormalities are found. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting may occur, and particularly if accompanied by blood in stool, discontinue use immediately. Respiratory side effects such as pneumonia or pulmonary infiltrates may occur infrequently, so inform medical staff if experiencing difficulty breathing or worsening cough. Central nervous system effects may lead to symptoms such as anxiety, dizziness, drowsiness, and hallucinations, so caution is warranted. Oral infections such as stomatitis or candidiasis may develop. This drug may induce a bleeding tendency caused by vitamin K deficiency or symptoms of vitamin B group deficiency, so monitoring for symptoms is important. This drug may interact with other medications, especially those affecting blood coagulation or putting stress on the kidneys, so consult with medical staff when taking them together. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should only use this medication when absolutely necessary as its safety has not been fully established, and precautions are advised during breastfeeding. Safety and efficacy for infants under one month of age have not been confirmed, so its use should be avoided. Elderly patients may experience side effects more easily due to diminished physical functions, so dosage and administration intervals should be adjusted and used with caution. This drug may affect the results of certain clinical tests, so care should be taken in interpreting test results. This drug works by disrupting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls to kill the bacteria.
