This medication should not be used by patients who have previously experienced severe allergic reactions or shock due to this medication. It should also be avoided by patients with an allergy to this medication or to cephalosporin antibiotics. Patients allergic to penicillin antibiotics or those with a propensity for allergic reactions such as asthma or skin rashes should use with caution. Patients with significantly reduced kidney function, elderly patients, and malnourished patients should be administered cautiously, and close monitoring is required as vitamin K deficiency symptoms may occur. Patients with a history of gastrointestinal disease, particularly colitis, should also be careful. This medication can rarely cause severe shock or acute allergic reactions like anaphylaxis, so if symptoms occur, administration should be stopped immediately and appropriate treatment should be sought. Serious skin reactions may occur, so if abnormal symptoms such as rash, blisters, or skin peeling appear, use should be stopped and a hospital visit is necessary. Blood tests may show abnormalities such as leukopenia or anemia, thus regular testing is required. It may affect liver or kidney functions, and if liver dysfunction or kidney impairment is suspected, administration should be stopped and treatment should be given. Gastrointestinal side effects may include diarrhea, abdominal pain, and nausea, and in severe cases, pseudomembranous colitis can occur, so immediate consultation with healthcare professionals is advised if symptoms arise. Respiratory symptoms may include cough and dyspnea, necessitating caution. Central nervous system symptoms such as anxiety, insomnia, dizziness, and hallucinations may rarely occur. Infections such as oral inflammation or candidiasis may also arise, and good oral hygiene should be maintained. Bleeding tendencies from vitamin K deficiency or symptoms of vitamin B group deficiencies may rarely occur; hence, monitoring is required. When using this medication, it is important to verify the sensitivity of the infecting bacteria and administer it only for the necessary duration to prevent antibiotic resistance. There may be interactions with other medications, particularly those affecting the kidneys, anticoagulants, or oral contraceptives, so consultation with healthcare professionals is necessary when coadministered. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding have not had established safety with this medication, so it should only be used with caution when necessary, considering the possible effects on the infant while breastfeeding. Its safety has not been confirmed for infants, so it is advisable not to use it. The elderly are at increased risk of side effects due to decreased bodily functions, so dosages and administration intervals should be adjusted, and close observation is recommended. This medication may affect glucose or blood test results, so it is advisable to inform healthcare personnel during testing.
