Precautions

This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame, which is broken down into phenylalanine in the body; therefore, patients with the genetic condition phenylketonuria should not take this medication. Patients with a history of allergic reactions to cephalosporin antibiotics should also avoid this medication. Caution is needed in patients with a history of allergies to penicillin or other drugs, especially due to the potential for cross-reactivity with beta-lactam antibiotics. In patients with renal function decline or suspected renal impairment, the dosage of this medication should be reduced and monitored carefully. Patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, especially colitis, should use this medication with caution. This medicine contains Yellow No. 5 as a coloring agent; patients with allergies to this ingredient should take it carefully. Taking this medication may cause gastrointestinal side effects such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, and liver function tests may show elevated levels. Rarely, allergic reactions such as rash or hives, as well as central nervous system symptoms like dizziness, headaches, and drowsiness may occur. In patients with renal impairment, seizures may occur, so if such symptoms appear, the medication should be discontinued immediately. When taken with other antibiotics or diuretics, the risk of renal toxicity may increase, so inform your healthcare provider. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should only use this medication when necessary, and special care should be taken during breastfeeding as the effects on the infant are unknown. It is advised not to use this medication in infants under 6 months old due to not having confirmed safety and efficacy. In the elderly, dosage adjustments may be necessary considering the risk of decreased renal function. If diarrhea occurs while using the antibiotic, the possibility of pseudomembranous colitis should be suspected, and medical consultation should be sought immediately. In the case of overdose, the medication is excreted through the kidneys, so patients with renal impairment may require hemodialysis. This medication may affect the results of blood tests or urine tests, so inform your healthcare provider before the tests.
