Treatment of bacterial infections (urinary tract, respiratory, skin, etc.) and combination treatment of Hansen's disease
This medication is effective against various bacteria including Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Escherichia coli, and Streptococcus pneumoniae. It treats complicated infections of the skin and soft tissues and is used for both acute and chronic otitis media as well as bacterial sinusitis. It helps with community-acquired pneumonia and acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and is also used for urinary tract infections such as acute pyelonephritis, cystitis, and urethritis. It is effective for gastrointestinal infections like bacterial dysentery and enteritis, infection of the female reproductive system, and eye-related infections. However, as a fluoroquinolone, it carries a risk of serious adverse reactions and should be used cautiously only when other treatment methods are not available. This medication is primarily used for the treatment of complicated bacterial infections.
