Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients who have experienced severe allergic reactions or shock from this medication or any cephalosporin antibiotics in the past. It should be used cautiously in patients with a history of allergy to penicillin antibiotics or those with constitutions prone to allergic symptoms such as asthma or skin rashes in themselves or their family. Special care should be taken in patients with severely impaired kidney function, those who cannot take orally, the elderly, and patients in poor general condition, as there may be a risk of bleeding due to vitamin K deficiency. Patients with gastrointestinal diseases, especially those with a history of colitis, should also be cautious. This medication can rarely cause severe shock, anaphylaxis, skin disorders, blood abnormalities, liver function abnormalities, kidney function abnormalities, gastrointestinal symptoms, pneumonia, and central nervous system adverse effects. If any abnormal symptoms appear, usage should be immediately discontinued and appropriate treatment should be sought. To prevent the development of resistant organisms during antibiotic use, sensitivity testing should be performed and used for only the necessary minimum period. This medication may interact with other drugs, so care should be taken, especially when used with probenecid, nephrotoxic drugs, anticoagulants, and oral contraceptives. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should consider the necessity and risks of using this medication carefully, and caution should also be exercised in breastfeeding. It is best not to use this medication in newborns under one month old as safety and efficacy have not been established. The elderly should be carefully monitored, as side effects may more easily occur due to declining body function, and dosage and administration intervals should be adjusted accordingly. This medication may affect the results of certain clinical tests, so it should be considered when interpreting test results.
