View approved original text

This medication helps to dissolve excessive mucus caused by acute or chronic respiratory diseases, aiding its easy expulsion. It reduces mucus in the respiratory tract to ease breathing and softens phlegm for easier expectoration during coughing. This assists in improving respiratory symptoms and helps maintain the patient's smooth breathing. It is primarily used for respiratory diseases such as bronchitis and asthma.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. Patients who have had an allergic reaction to this medication or its ingredients should avoid taking it. Patients with liver cirrhosis and those with cystathionine synthase deficiency should not take this medication as its metabolites may interfere with methionine metabolism in the body. Patients with peptic ulcers should also refrain from using this medication. It should not be taken by patients with severely impaired kidney function or severe liver disease. Mild to moderate liver impairment patients should be cautious when using this medication and should not exceed 300 mg per day. Patients with diabetes or those on a low-calorie diet should exercise particular caution when taking the syrup formulation. This medication contains Yellow No. 5 dye, so individuals allergic or sensitive to this component should use it carefully. Overdose may cause symptoms such as sweating, dizziness, and facial flushing. While taking this medication, neurological and respiratory system abnormal symptoms such as headache, cold symptoms, and shortness of breath may occur. Gastrointestinal symptoms may include altered taste, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and heartburn. Allergic reactions such as urticaria, erythema, and eczema may appear on the skin. Various adverse reactions including fatigue, dyspepsia, palpitations, facial and systemic swelling, itching, and rash have been reported in post-marketing surveillance, although a clear correlation with this medication is not established. This medication, when taken with expectorants, may increase the risk of bronchial infections due to reduced expulsion of phlegm from bronchial passages, and may cause bronchospasm, so caution is advised. Women who are pregnant, may become pregnant, or are breastfeeding should avoid taking this medication as its safety has not been established. This medication should be kept out of reach of children, and transferring to another container may pose risks of accidents and quality deterioration.
