Treatment of skin and nail fungal infections (athlete's foot, body ringworm, etc.)
This medication is used to treat athlete's foot, body ringworm, tinea capitis, and onychomycosis caused by dermatophytes in adults. It is also effective for treating tinea capitis in children. This drug helps improve skin fungal infections.
As terbinafine: 125 mg twice daily or 250 mg once daily. The duration of treatment varies by condition: 1) Dermatophyte infections Athlete's foot: 2 to 6 weeks Body ringworm: 2 to 4 weeks Tinea capitis: 2 to 4 weeks 2) Onychomycosis Typically treated for 6 weeks to 3 months. The treatment duration for nail infections is usually 3 months, but may take more than 6 months in some patients. Patients with renal impairment should receive 1 daily dose.
Administer to children over 2 years of age. Tinea capitis: 4 weeks 1) Weighing less than 20 kg (under 5 years): 62.5 mg once daily. 2) Weighing 20 to 40 kg (5 to 12 years): 125 mg once daily.
This medication should not be used in patients with chronic liver disease or active liver disease. Before administration, it is essential to check for liver disease, and regular liver function tests should be conducted. If symptoms of liver dysfunction appear, use should be discontinued immediately and a doctor consulted. This medication should not be administered to individuals with hypersensitivity reactions, blood disorders, severe renal failure, infants under 2 years of age, or nursing mothers. Patients with genetic lactose intolerance should also avoid using this drug. Careful administration is needed for patients with reduced kidney function, the elderly, and children weighing less than 20 kg. If severe rashes or allergic reactions occur, use should be stopped immediately. This drug can cause various side effects including hepatotoxicity, blood abnormalities, skin rashes, muscle pain, gastrointestinal disorders, and psychological symptoms, so any abnormal symptoms should be reported to a physician immediately. Exercise caution when driving or operating machinery if symptoms such as dizziness occur. Interactions with other medications may occur, so patients taking other medications should inform their doctor or pharmacist. In particular, dose adjustments may be necessary when combined with drugs that affect liver metabolism. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication with caution, and those who are breastfeeding should discontinue nursing while using this drug. Children and the elderly may have weaker liver and kidney functions, thus careful monitoring is necessary during administration. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as headache, nausea, and dizziness may occur, requiring immediate medical treatment. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and stored at room temperature, avoiding direct sunlight.
Hepatobiliary failure, hepatitis, cholestasis, jaundice, neutropenia, pancytopenia, agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, rapid deterioration of renal function accompanied by rhabdomyolysis, dyspnea, chest tightness, urticaria, anaphylactic reactions, angioedema, systemic lupus erythematosus, liver failure, severe skin reactions (Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis), severe allergic reactions, severe edema.
Itching, rash, fever, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, malaise, leukopenia, anemia, photosensitivity reactions, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, erythema multiforme, toxic skin rash, exfoliative dermatitis, vesicular dermatitis, psoriasiform rash, exacerbation of psoriasis, hair loss, musculoskeletal reactions (arthralgia, myalgia), weakness, hypotension, erythema, facial swelling, lymphangiectasia, abdominal bloating, dyspepsia, diarrhea, gastric discomfort, thirst, glossitis, depression, incongruence.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to prevent air ingress and is best kept at room temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius. Storing it this way helps maintain the drug's efficacy over a longer period.
