Precautions

This medication is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by disrupting the synthesis of certain bacterial cell walls. Before using this medication, you must inform your healthcare provider if you have experienced severe allergic reactions or shock from this medication or from other cephalosporin antibiotics in the past. Caution is necessary if you have a history of allergy to penicillin antibiotics or if you have a family history of asthma, skin rashes, or hives. Patients with severely impaired kidney function, those unable to take the medication orally, elderly patients, or those in poor general condition should be carefully observed for signs of Vitamin K deficiency. Caution is also needed for patients with a history of gastrointestinal disease, particularly colitis. This medication contains the coloring agent Yellow No. 5, so patients with allergies to this ingredient should be administered with caution. Rarely, shock or severe allergic reactions may occur during treatment, so if symptoms arise, the medication should be discontinued immediately and appropriate treatment should be sought. Serious skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis can occur, so skin condition should be closely monitored. Various adverse reactions including blood-related issues, liver dysfunction, and kidney function decline may occur, necessitating regular examinations. Particularly, patients with poor kidney function require careful monitoring due to the risk of seizures along with dosage adjustment. Gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain may manifest, so these symptoms should be monitored closely. Respiratory system abnormalities or central nervous system symptoms may occur rarely, so any unusual signs should be reported. This medication may lead to bleeding tendencies related to Vitamin K deficiency or symptoms of Vitamin B complex deficiency; therefore, appropriate supplements should be given if necessary. When used with other medications, interactions may occur, and consultation with a physician or pharmacist is advisable. Particularly caution is needed when used with anticoagulants, nephrotoxic drugs, diuretics, or oral contraceptives. For women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as those who are breastfeeding, the use of this medication should be carefully considered, and nursing mothers should be cautious of potential medication transfer. Safety in neonates under one month of age has not been established, so use should be avoided. Elderly patients may present with more adverse reactions due to decreased physiological function; therefore, dosing and administration intervals should be adjusted accordingly. This medication may affect urine test results, so this should be taken into account during testing.
