Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients who have previously experienced severe allergic reactions or shock due to this drug. Additionally, it should be avoided by patients allergic to this drug or to cephalosporin antibiotics. Patients with a history of allergies to penicillin antibiotics or those with allergic tendencies should use it cautiously, especially those with bronchial asthma or skin rash symptoms. Patients with severely impaired kidney function, elderly patients, and those with poor nutritional status should be administered with caution, and monitoring should be performed as vitamin K deficiency symptoms may develop. Caution is also needed for patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, especially colitis. Rarely, this drug can cause shock or severe allergic reactions; if symptoms occur, administration should be stopped immediately and appropriate treatment should be sought. Severe skin reactions may occur, so if there are rashes, hives, or severe skin abnormalities, usage should be discontinued. Blood abnormalities may occur, making regular testing necessary, and if abnormalities are found, administration should be stopped. Since this medication can affect liver and kidney function, examinations and monitoring are required, and dose adjustments may be necessary for patients with poor kidney function. If gastrointestinal symptoms such as discomfort, diarrhea, or abdominal pain occur, immediate consultation with medical personnel is advised. Respiratory symptoms or central nervous system abnormalities may also rarely appear, necessitating caution. This drug may have interactions when used in combination with other antibiotics, so patients must inform medical personnel about any other medications they are taking. Caution is particularly needed when used with anticoagulants, diuretics, and probenecid as careful monitoring and dose adjustments are necessary. When taken with oral contraceptives, the contraceptive effect may be reduced, so additional contraceptive methods are advised. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully consider the risks and benefits of this medication if administration is necessary, and nursing women should also use it with caution. Safety for neonates has not been established, so it is advisable not to use it in newborns under one month old. Elderly patients may exhibit adverse reactions more easily due to decreased bodily functions, so careful administration with dosage and interval adjustments is needed. This drug works by inhibiting cell wall synthesis to kill bacteria, so sensitivity tests should be performed to prevent the emergence of resistant bacteria, and it should only be used for the necessary minimum duration.
