This medication should not be administered to certain patients. In particular, patients who have experienced severe allergic reactions (shock) due to this drug or have hypersensitivity to cephalosporin antibiotics should not use it. Patients with a history of allergic reactions to this drug or to cephalosporin antibiotics should use it very cautiously. Attention should also be paid to those who are hypersensitive to penicillin antibiotics or have a family history of allergic dispositions. Patients with severely impaired kidney function may experience an increase in drug concentration, so dosage should be reduced and intervals extended. Patients who have difficulty swallowing orally, those on non-oral nutrition, elderly patients, and those in poor general condition should be closely monitored for symptoms of vitamin K deficiency. This medication can rarely cause serious side effects; if symptoms such as malaise, difficulty breathing, rash, diarrhea, vomiting, fever, or dizziness occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare professional. Regular monitoring is necessary due to the risks of pseudomembranous colitis, interstitial pneumonia, blood abnormalities, liver dysfunction, and acute renal failure. Prolonged use may lead to antibiotic resistance, so it should only be administered for the necessary minimum duration. Furthermore, caution is required when used with warfarin due to an increased risk of bleeding. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should only use this drug if the benefits outweigh the risks, as its safety is not fully established, and should avoid breastfeeding during treatment. Safety in neonates, premature infants, and infants under 6 months of age has not been established, so use is not recommended. Elderly patients may experience more side effects due to declining physical functions, so dosage and intervals should be adjusted carefully. Be aware that some urine tests may yield false-positive results due to interference with laboratory tests. Finally, the suspension of this drug should not be stored for more than 2 weeks after manufacture, and the powder should not be left in milk or juice for prolonged periods.
