Erdostatin Capsule (Erdostein)

Adult dose

Adults: Administer erdosteine 300 mg orally 2～3 times daily. When used for acute respiratory diseases, do not administer continuously for more than 10 days.

This drug should not be used in specific patients. Firstly, people who have an allergic reaction to this drug or its components should not take it. Patients with liver cirrhosis or specific enzyme deficiencies should avoid it, as the metabolites of this drug may cause issues in their bodies. Patients with peptic ulcers should also refrain from using this medication. This drug is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment or severe liver disease. Furthermore, patients with slightly impaired liver function or moderate impairment should use this drug with caution and should not exceed 300 mg per day. Diabetic patients or those on a low-calorie diet need to be particularly cautious when using syrup formulations. This drug contains a colorant called Yellow No. 5, so patients with allergies or hypersensitivity to this component should be careful. In case of overdose, symptoms such as sweating, dizziness, and facial flushing may occur. Nervous system and respiratory system adverse reactions such as headaches, cold symptoms, and breathing difficulties have been reported. Gastrointestinal issues may include altered taste, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and heartburn. Allergic reactions such as rashes, erythema, and eczema may also appear on the skin. Care should be taken when this drug is taken with expectorants, as this may hinder the expulsion of phlegm from the bronchi and increase the risk of bronchial infections. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised to avoid taking this drug, as its safety has not been established. Finally, this drug should be kept out of reach of children, and caution should be exercised as transferring it to another container may lead to accidents or a decline in the drug's quality.
