Urinary disorders due to benign prostatic hyperplasia - Initial dose: 1 mg of terazosin hydrochloride orally at bedtime, not exceeding this dose. - Maintenance dose: Gradually increase until symptoms improve, taking 5-10 mg orally once a day. - When used in combination with diuretics or other antihypertensives, dose reduction may be required, with careful monitoring for hypotension as needed. 2. Precautions

This medication is an alpha-blocker primarily used to lower blood pressure or relieve urinary disorders caused by prostatic hyperplasia. This medication should not be administered to patients with hypersensitivity to alpha-blockers or this drug. It should also not be used in children under 12 years of age. This medication contains lactose, so patients with genetic metabolic disorders such as galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take it. Patients with severe liver or kidney impairment or specific conditions such as orthostatic hypotension, heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, peptic ulcer, alcoholism, or diabetes need to use this drug with caution. Taking this medication may cause dizziness, drowsiness, headaches, or fainting due to orthostatic hypotension, so care should be taken, especially when starting treatment or adjusting the dose. In case of fainting, the patient should be laid down and receive necessary treatment, and these symptoms usually occur only at the initial dose and may not recur later. Since this drug lowers blood pressure, it is advisable to avoid hazardous activities such as working at heights or operating vehicles. During treatment, it is important to develop the habit of rising slowly to prevent dizziness or fainting, and if symptoms arise, the patient should rest immediately. While this medication helps alleviate the symptoms of prostatic hyperplasia, it can present symptoms similar to prostate cancer, so it is necessary to confirm the absence of cancer before treatment. Patients undergoing cataract surgery should inform their physician about taking this medication and pay attention to potential iris-related side effects during the surgery. This medication has minimal drug interactions when taken with multiple medications, but caution is needed as the blood pressure-lowering effect may increase when taken with other antihypertensives. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully weigh the risks and benefits of taking this medication, and those who are breastfeeding should avoid taking it or discontinue breastfeeding if possible. This medication has not been established for safety and efficacy in children, so it should not be used. In elderly patients, treatment should start with a low dose to prevent excessively low blood pressure, with close monitoring of their condition. In case of overdose, serious symptoms such as acute hypotension may occur, and immediate medical attention should be sought for appropriate treatment. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children, and care should be taken not to transfer it to other containers as this may affect quality.
