This medication is primarily used for the treatment of upper and lower respiratory infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and uncomplicated urinary tract infections. For instance, it is effective for upper respiratory infections such as pharyngitis and tonsillitis, as well as for treating otitis media and acute sinusitis. It is also used in cases of secondary bacterial infection of acute bronchitis and acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis. In addition, it helps in the treatment of uncomplicated skin and soft tissue infections and abscesses that occur post-surgery. Lastly, it can be applied to uncomplicated urinary tract infections, including cystitis. This medication is widely used for the treatment of various bacterial infections.

This medication is a cephalosporin antibiotic and should not be administered to certain patients. Patients who have had an allergy to cephalosporin antibiotics should avoid using this medication. Patients with allergies to penicillin or other medications should also use this medication with caution, as allergic reactions may cross-react among similar classes of drugs. Severely ill patients or those with suspected kidney function issues need careful observation and appropriate testing when using this medication. Patients with impaired kidney function may require a dose reduction to minimize side effects. Individuals with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, especially colitis, should also use this medication cautiously. Additionally, caution is needed in patients allergic to specific colorants included in this medication. Common gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain may occur with this medication. Adverse reactions such as liver function abnormalities, skin rashes, and urticaria may also arise, so if these symptoms occur, immediate consultation with a healthcare professional is necessary. Rare reports of central nervous system symptoms such as dizziness, headaches, and drowsiness have been noted, and seizures may occur, so patients with reduced kidney function should be particularly cautious. When used with other antibiotics or diuretics, there may be an increased risk of nephrotoxicity, necessitating careful monitoring during concurrent use. Use during pregnancy should be limited to essential cases only, and nursing mothers should administer with caution, as this medication is excreted in small amounts in breast milk. It is advisable not to use this medication in infants less than 6 months of age, as safety and efficacy have not been established. Elderly patients may require dosage adjustments due to potential renal function decline, and clinical tests such as blood tests should be conducted during treatment to monitor for adverse reactions. Since this medication is excreted through the kidneys, in cases of overdose, it may be possible to remove the drug through hemodialysis in patients with kidney impairment. Finally, it is important to conduct sensitivity testing to prevent the emergence of resistant bacteria and only use the medication for the minimally necessary duration.
