This drug is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by binding to specific proteins and interfering with bacterial cell wall synthesis. Prior to using this medication, it is essential to inform the healthcare provider if there has ever been a history of shock due to this drug or similar antibiotics. It should be used with caution in patients with severe allergic reactions, asthma, or a predisposition to allergic symptoms such as rashes and hives. Patients with significantly impaired kidney function, elderly individuals, or those with poor nutritional status should be closely monitored due to the risk of bleeding from vitamin K deficiency. Patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, particularly colitis, should consult their physician before taking this drug. During administration of this drug, symptoms of shock or severe allergic reactions may occur, and if they do, the drug should be discontinued immediately and the healthcare provider should be informed. Severe skin reactions may occur; therefore, if symptoms such as rashes, blisters, or peeling skin manifest, the use of this drug should be immediately stopped. Periodic blood tests are needed as white blood cell or platelet counts may decrease; if abnormalities are found, drug administration must be stopped. Liver dysfunction or renal impairment may occur, so regular liver and kidney function tests are important. If symptoms such as severe diarrhea, abdominal pain, or bloody stools occur, they should be reported to the healthcare provider immediately, as these may be signs of pseudomembranous colitis. If respiratory symptoms or abnormal findings in the lungs appear, medication usage should be ceased and appropriate treatment should be sought. As this medication may affect the central nervous system, symptoms such as dizziness, insomnia, or confusion may occur; caution is advised. Oral infections such as stomatitis or candidiasis may rarely occur. This drug may cause vitamin K and B deficiency symptoms, so immediate reporting is necessary if such symptoms occur. Due to possible interactions with other medications, especially those affecting the kidneys, anticoagulants, or oral contraceptives, patients should inform their physician and exercise caution. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should only use this medication when the benefits are deemed to outweigh the risks as safety during pregnancy is not established. Caution is advised during breastfeeding as a small amount may be transmitted into breast milk, and healthcare providers should be consulted if needed. Safety and efficacy in infants under 1 month of age have not been established, so it's advisable not to use this medication in this population.
