Precautions

This medication contains two drugs, budesonide and formoterol, and is used for the treatment of respiratory diseases such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. This medication should not be used in patients with allergies to budesonide, formoterol, or inhalation lactose, or in children under 6 years of age. Caution should be exercised when administering to patients who have previously received systemic steroid treatment and have adrenal insufficiency, and it is important to gradually adjust the dosage under the direction of a physician when starting or stopping treatment. While using this medication, mild side effects such as tremors, palpitations, headache, cough, and hoarseness may commonly occur, and most will resolve within a few days of treatment. In chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients, there may be an increased risk of infections such as skin bruising or pneumonia, so caution is needed. Long-term high-dose use can result in systemic side effects such as adrenal insufficiency, delayed growth, decreased bone density, cataracts, and glaucoma, so the dosage should be adjusted to the minimum effective dose whenever possible. To prevent oral and throat candidiasis (fungal infection) while using this medication, it is advisable to rinse the mouth with water after inhalation. Additionally, since this medication may affect the heart, patients with heart disease, high blood pressure, or arrhythmias should use it with caution. Diabetic patients should closely monitor their blood glucose control while using this medication, and it is advisable to monitor potassium levels as hypokalemia may occur. This medication may have reduced effectiveness when used with beta-blockers, so patients taking beta-blockers should consult their physician. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should carefully consider the benefits and risks of using this medication if it is necessary, and it is known that there is minimal impact on the baby when breastfeeding. Effective delivery of the medication to the lungs requires following the correct inhalation method, so it is important to breathe deeply during inhalation and use the inhaler correctly. The inhaler should be kept clean and wiped regularly with a dry cloth instead of being washed with water. If overdose occurs, symptoms such as tremors, palpitations, headache, and hypotension may appear, and if suspected, immediate medical attention should be sought. Finally, it is important to consult a physician immediately if asthma symptoms worsen or new symptoms appear during the use of this medication to receive appropriate treatment.
