This medication is used for the preventive treatment of patients with bronchial asthma. It helps mild asthma patients who occasionally need bronchodilators, and is used to stabilize the condition when moderate asthma patients need regular treatment. In severe asthma patients, this medication can help control symptoms and reduce or eliminate the need for systemic corticosteroids. It is also effectively used for preventive treatment in pediatric asthma patients whose current treatment does not control their symptoms. Overall, this medication helps prevent bronchial asthma of varying degrees and improves symptoms.

How to use

Adult use

Adults and adolescents over 16 years old inhale 100 to 1000 μg twice daily. The dosage is adjusted according to the severity of the disease, starting as follows: - Mild: 100 to 250 μg twice daily - Moderate: 250 to 500 μg twice daily - Severe: 500 to 1000 μg twice daily. Adjust the dosage based on individual responses until asthma is controlled or minimized to the lowest effective dose.

Child use

For children aged 1 year and older, 50 to 100 μg is to be inhaled twice a day. The dosage begins with 50 to 100 μg twice daily depending on the severity of asthma, and should be adjusted according to individual response.

Precautions

This medication should not be administered to patients who are allergic to this product or its components or have had hypersensitivity reactions. It should not be used as a first-line treatment for very severe asthma or acute asthma attacks. Caution is recommended in the administration of this medication to patients with moderate to severe bronchiectasis. Special care is needed when using this medication in patients with or being treated for pulmonary tuberculosis or pulmonary fungal infections. Rare cases of sudden bronchial constriction may occur after administration, and immediate treatment is required if such symptoms appear. This medication may cause oral and throat candidiasis (fungal infection), so it is advisable to rinse the mouth with water after inhalation. Some patients may experience hypersensitivity reactions such as hoarseness, skin rash, angioedema, or anaphylaxis. Prolonged use of high doses may lead to systemic side effects such as Cushing's syndrome, adrenal insufficiency, growth delay, cataracts, and glaucoma, hence it is important to use the minimum effective dose. This medication is not for the relief of acute asthma symptoms; for acute symptoms, a fast-acting bronchodilator should be used. Patients must be familiar with the correct usage of the inhaler and rinse their mouth after inhalation to minimize local side effects. When switching from oral steroids to this medication, dosage should be reduced cautiously, considering adrenal insufficiency, and adrenal function should be monitored regularly. Serious complications may occur if infected with varicella or measles, so vaccination status and medical history should be checked and precautions taken against infections. Co-administration with certain medications like ritonavir may increase the risk of serious side effects such as adrenal suppression and Cushing's syndrome, thus concurrent use should be avoided. This medication should be administered to pregnant women only if the therapeutic benefits outweigh the risks to the fetus, and nursing mothers should be given cautiously considering risks to the newborn. In pediatric patients, growth should be monitored regularly, and dosages should be adjusted if necessary to prevent growth delay. Overdosage may result in adrenal suppression, but in most cases recovery occurs with proper treatment. This medication should be stored in a cool place below 30 degrees Celsius, out of reach of children, and it is essential to keep the inhaler clean.
