This drug works by binding to certain proteins and disrupting bacterial cell wall synthesis, thus killing bacteria. Patients who have previously experienced an allergic reaction to this drug or similar cephalosporin antibiotics should not use it. Additionally, patients who have experienced shock symptoms from this medication should also refrain from its use. Caution is necessary for those allergic to penicillin antibiotics or those with a history of bronchial asthma or skin rashes. Patients with severely impaired kidney function, those who have difficulty taking oral medications, the elderly, and patients in poor general condition should use it carefully, as there may be signs of vitamin K deficiency, which requires close monitoring. Patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, particularly colitis, should also exercise caution. During the use of this drug, serious skin reactions such as shock, anaphylaxis, rashes, urticaria, and Stevens-Johnson syndrome may occur; if symptoms arise, use must be stopped immediately, and medical attention should be sought. Routine blood tests may be required as leukopenia, anemia, and thrombocytopenia can occur. Liver and kidney function may also rarely show abnormalities, so use should be stopped in the presence of abnormal symptoms, and appropriate treatment should be initiated. Gastrointestinal disturbances, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain may occur, so these symptoms should be carefully monitored. Respiratory symptoms or central nervous system abnormal signs may also rarely appear, and if any unusual signs occur, immediate reporting is necessary. This medication may interact with other antibiotics, especially when used with probenecid or nephrotoxic drugs, and kidney function should be carefully monitored. Moreover, when taken with oral contraceptives, contraceptive effectiveness may decrease, so it is advisable to use alternative contraceptive methods. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this drug cautiously only when necessary, and nursing mothers should also take caution as this medication can be passed into breast milk in small amounts. Safety and efficacy have not been established in newborns, so caution is needed in their use. When administering to the elderly, there is a risk of bleeding due to decreased physical function and vitamin K deficiency, thus careful monitoring and adjustment of dosage and intervals are crucial. Finally, this drug may affect the results of some clinical tests, so caution is advised in interpreting test results.
