Treatment of herpes simplex virus infections (genital and oral herpes)
This medication is used for infections caused by the herpes simplex virus, particularly for initial and recurrent genital herpes and oral herpes. It helps to alleviate and treat the symptoms of these infections, which cause blisters.
Apply this medication to the affected area (site of the condition) about every 4 hours, 5 times a day. Treatment should continue for 5 days, and if not healed after 5 days of use, it may be used for an additional 5 days.
This medication should not be used by patients who are allergic or hypersensitive to any component of this medication. Furthermore, it is advisable not to administer this medication to breastfeeding women and children. It should be used cautiously in immunocompromised patients, such as those with AIDS or following a bone marrow transplant. When using this medication, one should be aware that lesions in the genital area may cause pain or discomfort. Temporary burning or stinging sensations, skin rashes, or itching may occur as side effects. The skin may become red, dry, and flaky, so it is important to monitor the condition closely. Treatment should start at the onset of symptoms, and the prescribed dosage and administration should be strictly followed. This medication should not be used by individuals without symptoms, and it is not used for the purpose of preventing recurrences. This medication should not be mixed or diluted with other drugs. Pregnant women should only use this medication when the benefits outweigh the risks, and breastfeeding should be avoided while using it. This medication is for external use only and should not be applied to mucous membranes such as the eyes, mouth, or vagina. When applying the medication, it is advisable to wear gloves to prevent spreading to other areas or transmitting it to others.
