This medication is used as an oral and injectable form and is utilized for the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers, anastomotic ulcers, and related hemorrhagic diseases. It is also effective in treating gastroesophageal reflux disease and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and improves mucosal lesions associated with acute and chronic gastritis. The injectable form is particularly used for cases of upper gastrointestinal bleeding or pre-anesthetic administration, assisting in alleviating symptoms due to gastrointestinal diseases and promoting mucosal recovery. Overall, this medication is widely used in the treatment of gastrointestinal and digestive disorders.

Precautions

This medication should not be used by individuals who are allergic to certain components or similar medications. It also contains lactose, so it should not be administered to patients with lactose intolerance or specific genetic metabolic disorders. Patients with a history of allergic reactions to this medication, kidney or liver dysfunction, heart conditions, and the elderly should use this medication with particular caution. While taking this medication, rare but serious allergic reactions, decrease in blood cell count, severe skin disorders, liver dysfunction, muscle damage, cardiac rhythm disturbances, consciousness disorders, kidney problems, and pulmonary diseases may occur, and patients should consult healthcare professionals immediately if symptoms arise. Common side effects include skin rash, indigestion, blood pressure changes, dizziness, drowsiness, and headaches; if these symptoms are severe, the use of the medication should be discontinued and medical advice sought. During treatment, regular blood tests and examinations of liver and kidney function should be conducted to closely monitor the condition. Patients undergoing hemodialysis should be cautious as the combination of this medication with certain phosphate binders may reduce effectiveness. The efficacy of this medication may decrease when taken with certain antifungals or chemotherapeutics, so patients must inform their doctor of all medications currently being taken. Elderly patients may have an increased risk of decreased kidney function, leading to elevated drug concentrations, and dosage adjustments may be necessary. Pregnant women or those who could become pregnant should only use this medication when the benefits outweigh the risks, and breastfeeding women are advised to stop breastfeeding. Safety in children has not been sufficiently established, so use in this population should be approached with caution. Lastly, this medication may mask symptoms of gastric cancer, so it should only be used after ensuring that gastric cancer is not present.
