Adult dose
For recurrent tonsillitis and other upper respiratory infections, lower respiratory infections, urinary infections, and mild to moderate skin and soft tissue infections, the usual dosage is amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium administered at 25 mg/3.6 mg per kg of body weight divided into 2 doses daily. For severe infections such as otitis media, sinusitis, lower respiratory infections like bronchopneumonia, and urinary infections, the usual dosage is amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium administered at 45 mg/6.4 mg per kg of body weight divided into 2 doses daily.
Child dose
Not suitable for children under 2 months, and also unsuitable for pediatric patients with renal impairment.

This medication is effective against various bacteria including Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, and Neisseria gonorrhoeae. It is primarily used to treat respiratory infections such as acute and chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, empyema, tonsillitis, sinusitis, and otitis media. It is also effective for urinary tract infections such as cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis, as well as for pelvic infections and gonorrhea. It can be applied to skin and soft tissue infections, boils, abscesses, and wound infections. It helps improve symptoms of various bacterial infections including osteomyelitis and dental infections. Overall, it is broadly used for treating infections caused by various bacteria, enhancing infection management.

How to take

Adult dose

For recurrent tonsillitis and other upper respiratory infections, lower respiratory infections, urinary infections, and mild to moderate skin and soft tissue infections, the usual dosage is amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium administered at 25 mg/3.6 mg per kg of body weight divided into 2 doses daily. For severe infections such as otitis media, sinusitis, lower respiratory infections like bronchopneumonia, and urinary infections, the usual dosage is amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium administered at 45 mg/6.4 mg per kg of body weight divided into 2 doses daily.

Child dose

Precautions

This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame and should not be used by patients with phenylketonuria. The amount of aspartame in this medication should be limited to below the WHO recommended amount, and for an adult of 60kg, the maximum daily dosage should not exceed 2.4g. It should not be used in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to this medication's components or beta-lactam antibiotics, in patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia, or in patients with liver dysfunction or a history of jaundice. Additionally, since it contains lactose, patients with lactose intolerance or galactose metabolism disorder should not take this medication. Patients with impaired liver or kidney function should use this medication cautiously, and those with allergies, elderly patients, or patients with gastrointestinal diseases need to be careful. During treatment, unusual symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, rash, or difficulty breathing may occur, so if any of these symptoms appear, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor. This medication has been reported to cause various side effects including liver dysfunction, blood disorders, kidney dysfunction, and central nervous system abnormalities, so regular check-ups may be necessary. Interactions may occur when combined with anticoagulants or other medications, so if you are taking other drugs, you must inform your doctor or pharmacist. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should use this medication with caution, and especially during the first three months of pregnancy, it is recommended to avoid its use. Premature infants, newborns, and the elderly are at a higher risk for side effects when this medication is administered, so careful observation is necessary. While taking this medication, it can affect some clinical test results such as urinalysis or liver function tests, so you should inform medical staff of the medication use prior to tests. In case of overdose, symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, rash, kidney failure, or seizures may appear, so appropriate medical treatment should be sought immediately.
