Adult dose

For severe infections such as otitis media and sinusitis, amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium of 45 mg/6.4 mg per kg body weight is taken twice daily. Administer early in the meal to minimize potential gastrointestinal intolerance.
Child dose
The 7:1 syrup is unsuitable for infants under 2 months and pediatric patients with kidney failure.

This medication is effectively used for various bacterial infections. It is helpful in treating respiratory infections such as acute and chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, empyema, and lung abscesses, as well as tonsillitis, sinusitis, and otitis media. It is also used to treat urinary tract infections like cystitis, urethritis, and pyelonephritis. Additionally, it is effective for pelvic inflammatory disease and gonorrhea in women, and it improves skin and soft tissue infections such as furuncle, abscess, cellulitis, and wound infections. This drug is also utilized for the treatment of osteomyelitis and dental infections, contributing to improving patients' health across a range of infectious diseases.

How to take

Adult dose

For recurrent tonsillitis and other mild to moderate infections, amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium of 25 mg/3.6 mg per kg body weight is taken twice daily. For severe infections such as otitis media and sinusitis, amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium of 45 mg/6.4 mg per kg body weight is taken twice daily. Precautions

This drug contains the artificial sweetener aspartame and should not be administered to patients with phenylketonuria. Care must be taken to not exceed the daily allowable intake of aspartame. This drug is contraindicated for patients with hypersensitivity to its ingredients or beta-lactam antibiotics, patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia, a history of liver dysfunction, and patients with lactose intolerance or galactose absorption disorders. Patients with impaired liver or kidney function, allergic constitution, elderly patients, and those with gastrointestinal diseases should use this drug cautiously and be alert for symptoms of vitamin K deficiency. The prolonged use of this drug may lead to the development of resistant bacteria; therefore, it should be taken for the minimum duration prescribed by a doctor. Severe allergic reactions such as anaphylactic shock may occur, so the patient's condition should be closely monitored after administration and emergency preparedness is required. Pregnant women should preferably avoid this drug, especially in the first trimester, and nursing mothers should be cautious of adverse reactions in their infants. Diarrhea, pseudomembranous colitis, dyspepsia, stomatitis, gastritis, glossitis, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, abdominal bloating, constipation, colonic pain, hyperacidity, soft stools, dry mouth, blood in stool, candidiasis, dermatitis, oral edema, itching, erythema multiforme, serum sickness syndrome (fever, rash, arthralgia, edema, lymphadenopathy), eosinophilia, systemic symptoms, angioedema, thrombocytopenia, leukemia, agranulocytosis, lymphocytopenia, thrombocythemia
