Precautions

This medication is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic used for the treatment of certain bacterial infections. However, serious side effects such as tendonitis, tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, and central nervous system abnormalities may occur, necessitating caution. In particular, patients with myasthenia gravis may experience exacerbation of symptoms with this medication and should not take it. This medication should be used only for limited conditions such as acute bacterial sinusitis, acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, uncomplicated urinary tract infections, and acute otitis media. The risk of tendon rupture is increased in elderly patients, those with impaired kidney function, and those taking corticosteroids, so concomitant use should be avoided. If symptoms of tendon pain or inflammation occur, discontinue the medication immediately and rest. This medication may increase the risk of seizures, so patients with epilepsy or central nervous system disorders should use it with caution. It should not be administered to pregnant or potentially pregnant women, nursing mothers, and children and adolescents under 18 years of age, as well as patients with certain allergies. Additionally, concurrent use with tizanidine, ketoprofen, etc. may increase the risk of side effects, so they should not be taken together. This medication may interact with various drugs, so if taking other medications, it is essential to consult a physician or pharmacist. During use, care should be taken to avoid excessive exposure to sunlight or artificial ultraviolet rays and if skin rashes or itching occurs, the medication should be discontinued immediately. There may be changes in blood sugar levels, so diabetic patients should frequently monitor their blood glucose, and seek prompt treatment if severe hypoglycemic symptoms arise. This medication may affect kidney and liver function, so report any unusual symptoms to the healthcare provider and undergo testing. Be cautious while driving or operating machinery, as dizziness or drowsiness may occur. In case of overdose, renal damage may occur, so the prescribed dosage must be strictly followed. Finally, safety has not been established for use in children or growing adolescents.
