Precautions

This medication is a beta-lactam antibiotic and should not be used by patients with allergies to penicillin or cephalosporins. Particularly, patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia are at high risk of rash and should avoid using this medication. Patients who have had liver function issues should be cautious as liver function impairment may recur when taking this medication. Patients with poor liver or kidney function may have prolonged drug retention in their body, leading to side effects, and should adjust the dosage and administration interval according to their doctor's guidance. Patients with allergic conditions, the elderly, or those with poor nutritional status should be used cautiously due to the risk of bleeding from vitamin K deficiency. If gastrointestinal symptoms like vomiting or diarrhea occur, absorption of the medication may not proceed properly. If abdominal pain or diarrhea worsens, the medication should be stopped immediately, and the doctor should be consulted. Gastrointestinal side effects may be alleviated by taking it with food. Liver enzyme levels may increase, and rarely, serious liver problems like hepatitis or jaundice may occur, so long-term use requires liver function tests. Skin rash, itching, and in severe cases, serious skin reactions like Stevens-Johnson syndrome may occur, so if abnormal symptoms arise, discontinue use immediately. Blood cell counts may drop or bleeding tendencies may develop, so a blood test should check the condition. Central nervous system effects may lead to rare symptoms like anxiety, confusion, and seizures, so notify the doctor if neurological symptoms appear. Kidney function may deteriorate, requiring regular kidney function tests, and medication should be discontinued if abnormal symptoms arise. Use of antibiotics can disrupt intestinal bacterial balance, leading to symptoms like candidiasis or stomatitis, so consult a doctor if symptoms occur. Symptoms of vitamin K or B deficiency may appear, so nutritional status should be monitored during prolonged use. To prevent the emergence of resistant bacteria, it is important to only take the necessary duration based on susceptibility testing. Severe allergic reactions can lead to anaphylactic shock, so monitor the condition after taking the medication and be prepared for emergencies. Severe diarrhea or abdominal pain may indicate the possibility of pseudomembranous colitis; medication should be stopped immediately, and treatment should be sought. Long-term use may lead to overgrowth of resistant bacteria, so caution is needed if taken for more than 14 days. Patients with liver function abnormalities should exercise special caution when using this medication, and the treatment period should not exceed 14 days. As renal excretion is the main pathway, patients with impaired kidney function may need dosage adjustments. Patients suspected of having infectious mononucleosis should avoid using this medication, and if skin rash or serum sickness symptoms arise, treatment should be discontinued immediately. This medication may increase bleeding risk when used alongside anticoagulants, requiring regular examination of blood coagulation status. Interactions with other medications are possible, so notify the doctor or pharmacist of any other medications being taken. Usage should be avoided in early pregnancy, and caution is needed during breastfeeding due to potential diarrhea or allergic reactions in the infant. Not recommended for children under 12 years of age or those weighing less than 40 kg. Elderly patients may be at higher risk for side effect occurrences due to declining body functions, so dosage and administration intervals should be adjusted and carefully monitored. Some urine tests may show false positive results during the use of this medication, so this should be reported during testing. In case of overdose, gastrointestinal symptoms and central nervous system abnormalities may occur, and immediate cessation of treatment and appropriate care should be provided.
