In case of severe or respiratory infections, the dosage can be increased to 500 mg/125 mg. In cases of renal impairment, dosage should be adjusted according to creatinine clearance, if the creatinine clearance is 10 to 30 mL/min, administer 250 mg.
Adults and children aged 12 years or older or weighing 40 kg or more are included, other children can be dosed using the same method with reduced amounts.
This medication is a beta-lactam antibiotic, and should not be taken by individuals allergic to penicillin or cephalosporin drugs. Particularly, caution is needed for patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia due to the increased risk of rash. Those with poor liver function or a history of liver dysfunction or jaundice due to this medication or penicillin should avoid or use it with caution. In cases of moderate to severe renal impairment, dosage intervals should be adjusted, and caution should be used for allergic individuals, elderly patients, or those in poor general condition. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain may occur; if severe diarrhea or blood in stools occurs, stop taking the medication and consult a doctor immediately. Rarely, hypersensitivity reactions such as abnormal liver enzymes, hepatitis, and skin rashes may arise, and any unusual symptoms should be reported immediately. Regular blood tests may be necessary to monitor for changes such as leukopenia or thrombocytopenia. Pregnant women in early pregnancy or breastfeeding women must consult a doctor before taking this medication, and caution is advised during breastfeeding as it may affect the baby. For children, it is recommended to administer only to those aged 12 years or older or weighing over 40 kg; caution is necessary as there is limited experience with pediatric use. Elderly patients may experience side effects more readily due to decreased kidney function; thus, dosage and intervals should be adjusted and their condition monitored. There may be interactions when taken with other medications, so it is essential to inform the doctor of any other medications being taken, particularly when used with anticoagulants or certain antibiotics. In case of overdose, symptoms may include vomiting, diarrhea, rash, and renal failure; if symptoms are severe, seek medical attention immediately.
