Precautions

This medication is a beta-lactam antibiotic, and should not be used in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to penicillin or its derivatives. Particularly, those with a history of serious allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, or shock should avoid its use. Caution is required in patients with viral infections accompanied by infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia due to the increased risk of rash. Patients who have previously experienced liver dysfunction or jaundice due to this drug or penicillin derivatives should also avoid this medication due to the risk of recurrence. Patients with poor liver function or moderate to severe kidney impairment may require careful dosage adjustment and monitoring due to heightened drug concentrations. Those with allergic predispositions or frequently experience symptoms such as bronchial asthma, skin rash, or urticaria should use this medication cautiously. Patients with severe gastrointestinal symptoms such as vomiting or diarrhea should check their condition before taking the medication, as absorption may be affected. While taking this medication, if gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, or bloody stools occur, its use should be discontinued immediately, and a healthcare professional consulted. Symptoms of liver dysfunction may include fatigue, jaundice, and changes in urine color, especially in elderly patients over 60 years old and in males. Skin rash, itching, or severe allergic reactions necessitate immediate discontinuation of the drug and consultation with healthcare personnel. Hematologic abnormalities such as leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, and anemia may occur with prolonged use, hence regular blood tests are necessary. Central nervous system side effects can include anxiety, drowsiness, headache, and rarely, seizures, especially in patients with impaired renal function. Kidney function may deteriorate, requiring regular monitoring in patients with existing renal problems. This drug can disrupt the balance of normal intestinal flora, leading to infections such as candidiasis or stomatitis; symptoms should be reported to a healthcare provider. Rarely, bleeding tendencies due to vitamin K deficiency may occur, so any bleeding symptoms should be reported immediately. Tooth discoloration may occur rarely, but thorough brushing can help prevent this. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should avoid use during the first three months of pregnancy, and if necessary, must consult a physician before use. Nursing mothers should be cautious, as the drug may pass into breast milk, possibly causing diarrhea or allergic reactions in infants. It is advisable not to use this medication in premature infants or neonates under 2 months of age, as safety has not been established. Elderly patients are at increased risk of adverse reactions due to declining physical function; thus, dosage and intervals should be adjusted, and their condition closely monitored. This medication may interact with other drugs, so patients taking other medications must inform their healthcare provider. Special caution is needed when used with anticoagulants, anti-inflammatory drugs, and oral contraceptives, and blood tests are recommended if necessary. In cases of overdose, gastrointestinal symptoms, kidney function abnormalities, and central nervous system changes may occur, necessitating immediate medical attention. This medication should be stored after preparation in the refrigerator and used within 7 days for safety. It should be shaken well before use, and proper storage conditions are crucial. Rarely, severe enteritis or allergic reactions may arise from the use of this drug; should symptoms occur, its use should be stopped immediately, and a physician consulted.
