Precautions

This medication is used for the treatment of severe infections and can sometimes cause serious colitis, so caution is needed. Colitis may occur with severe diarrhea, abdominal pain, and fever, and if severe diarrhea occurs during treatment, it should be discontinued immediately or closely monitored. This medication does not penetrate well into cerebrospinal fluid, making it unsuitable for the treatment of meningitis. When using the injection, care should be taken to carefully cut the container to prevent glass fragment contamination, especially for children and the elderly. It should not be administered to patients with a history of hypersensitivity, and caution is warranted for elderly patients or those with impaired liver or kidney function, and patients with atopic constitution. Local adverse reactions such as injection site pain or thrombophlebitis may occur during intramuscular injection, so care should be taken not to inject deeply. Gastrointestinal disturbances may include diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting, and in severe cases, can lead to membranous colitis. Allergic reactions can manifest as urticaria, erythema, and in severe cases, skin conditions like Stevens-Johnson syndrome, so use should be discontinued immediately if abnormal symptoms occur. Liver dysfunction or kidney dysfunction may occur, so regular monitoring is required during prolonged administration. When used with muscle relaxants, the muscle relaxant effect may be enhanced, so caution is advised when used together. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised to avoid using this medication, and it should be administered cautiously to newborns or children. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so symptomatic emergency care is necessary. To prevent the occurrence of resistant bacteria, it is recommended to only administer this medication for the necessary minimum duration. The effects on driving or operating machinery are unclear, so caution is needed. For storage, keep out of reach of children and store in its original container to prevent quality degradation.
