This medication helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. It is used to decrease the risk of death from coronary heart disease, non-fatal myocardial infarction, and the occurrence of stroke in adult patients with a history of coronary heart disease, diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, or stroke. It also improves cholesterol and triglyceride levels and increases HDL cholesterol in patients with primary and mixed hyperlipidemia, thus maintaining healthy blood lipid levels. In particular, it is effective in lowering cholesterol levels in pediatric and adolescent patients with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia who have a family history or risk factors, when used in combination with a diet. Therefore, this drug is used to protect cardiovascular health and improve dyslipidemia conditions, including hyperlipidemia.
