This medication acts by binding to specific proteins and disrupting cell wall synthesis, thus killing bacteria. It should not be administered to patients who have previously experienced shock from this medication or have had allergic reactions to this medication or cephalosporin antibiotics. Additionally, since it contains lactose, it should not be used in patients with genetic problems such as galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Patients allergic to penicillin antibiotics or those with allergic predispositions, severe renal impairment, patients who have difficulty taking orally, the elderly, and patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases should use this medication with caution. This medication contains a dye called Yellow No. 5, so patients allergic to this component should also be cautious. Rarely, this medication can cause shock or severe allergic reactions, so symptoms should be closely monitored during use, and periodic testing is necessary as serious skin reactions or issues with blood, liver, or kidney functions may arise. If gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal pain or diarrhea occur, consult a physician immediately, and respiratory symptoms or central nervous system abnormal symptoms should also be closely observed. When using this medication, it is advisable to check for susceptibility and give it only for the necessary period to prevent the emergence of resistant bacteria. Interactions may occur when used along with other medications, so caution is needed, especially when taken with probenecid, nephrotoxic drugs, diuretics, anticoagulants, and oral contraceptives. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as nursing mothers, should use this medication with caution as its safety has not been established, and its safety has not been confirmed for newborns. When administering to the elderly, dose and intervals should be adjusted and monitored considering the risk of bleeding due to decreased physiological functions and vitamin K deficiency. During testing, false-positive reactions may appear in some urine sugar tests or direct Coombs tests, so caution is advised.
