  • Asthma
View approved original text

This medication is used in the treatment of asthma and is effective when administered in combination with a bronchodilator and inhaled corticosteroids. The bronchodilator widens the airways to facilitate breathing, and corticosteroids reduce inflammation to improve symptoms. The combination of these two medications allows for more effective control of asthma symptoms, stabilizing the patient's respiratory status and preventing asthma attacks. Therefore, this combination therapy is very suitable for asthma treatment.

Precautions

This medication has a bronchodilatory effect in patients with asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. However, it should not be used during acute asthma attacks or life-threatening conditions. For rapid symptom relief, a fast-acting inhaler should be used, and this medication is intended for long-term management of symptoms. It should not be administered to patients who are allergic to it, have cardiac arrhythmias, untreated respiratory infections, or severe bronchiectasis. Caution is advised for patients with cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, convulsive disorders, pulmonary tuberculosis, and hypokalemia. Rarely, side effects such as palpitations, headache, nausea, vomiting, muscle pain, rash, and oral candidiasis may occur. It is advisable to rinse the mouth after inhalation to prevent oral infections. Immediate medical assessment is necessary if asthma symptoms worsen or the use of a rescue inhaler increases. During pregnancy, it should only be used when the therapeutic benefits outweigh the risks to the fetus, and caution should also be taken during breastfeeding considering the risk to the newborn. Safety in children under 12 has not been established, and system-wide side effects such as growth delay may occur with high-dose long-term use. Elderly patients should also be monitored for cardiovascular adverse effects during administration. In case of overdose, symptoms such as cardiac arrhythmias, hypokalemia, headache, and insomnia may occur, so medical personnel should be notified immediately. It is crucial to use the inhaler correctly and clean it after use, rinsing the mouth to prevent infections. Store the medication in a cool place out of reach of children, and protect it from direct sunlight or high temperatures.
