Treatment of skin fungi (tinea pedis, tinea corporis, etc.) and onychomycosis
This medication is used for the treatment of dermatophytosis such as tinea pedis, tinea corporis, tinea capitis, and onychomycosis in adults. It is used for the treatment of tinea capitis in children.
As terbinafine, administer 125 mg once or twice daily, or 250 mg once daily. Treatment duration varies according to the disease as follows: 1) Dermatophytosis - Tinea pedis (interdigital type, plantar/moccasin type): 2 to 6 weeks - Tinea corporis: 2 to 4 weeks - Tinea cruris (jock itch): 2 to 4 weeks 2) Onychomycosis - Usually administered for 6 weeks to 3 months. - Infections of the fingernail or relatively small toes, or in younger patients, the treatment period may be shortened to less than 3 months. The treatment period for toenail infections is generally sufficient at 3 months, but in some patients, it may take 6 months or longer. In patients with slow toenail growth, the treatment period may be extended.
Administer to children over 2 years. Tinea capitis: 4 weeks 1) Children weighing less than 20 kg (under 5 years): 62.5 mg once daily. 2) Children weighing 20 to 40 kg (5 to 12 years)
This medication should generally not be used in patients with chronic liver disease or active liver disease. Liver function tests must be conducted before administration, and liver function should be monitored regularly during treatment. If symptoms of liver dysfunction appear, the medication should be discontinued immediately and medical advice sought. Patients with blood disorders or severe renal failure, children under 2 years old, and breastfeeding women should not take this medication. Patients with a history of allergic reactions to this medication should also avoid it. Elderly patients or those with impaired kidney function should use this medication with caution, and caution is also necessary for children with low body weight. This medication may rarely cause severe skin reactions, so if skin rash or unusual symptoms appear, the medication should be discontinued immediately. Musculoskeletal symptoms such as muscle pain or joint pain may occur, and if symptoms are severe, inform a doctor. Neuropsychiatric symptoms such as dizziness, headache, and taste disturbances have also been reported, so it is advisable to avoid driving or operating machinery if such symptoms are present. This medication may interact with other drugs, so if other medications are being taken, it is essential to inform a doctor or pharmacist. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication with caution, and breastfeeding women should stop breastfeeding while using this medication. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as headache, nausea, abdominal pain, and dizziness may appear, so immediate medical attention should be sought if these symptoms occur. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and kept at room temperature away from direct sunlight.
