Precautions

This medication works by binding to specific proteins to interfere with bacterial cell wall synthesis, thus killing the bacteria. This medication should not be used in patients who have previously experienced severe allergic reactions or shock due to this medication or cephalosporin-class antibiotics. Extreme caution should be exercised when using this medication in patients who are allergic to penicillin-class antibiotics or have a family history of asthma, rash, or urticaria symptoms. Particular care should be taken when administering this medication to patients with severely impaired kidney function, elderly individuals who may have difficulty swallowing medications or who are malnourished, and patients with gastrointestinal diseases. This medication may rarely cause severe allergic reactions, skin rashes, blood abnormalities, liver or kidney dysfunction, digestive issues, central nervous system symptoms, etc., and any unusual symptoms should be reported to healthcare professionals immediately. Adjustment of dosage may be necessary in patients with weakened kidney function, and if neurological symptoms like seizures occur, use of the medication should be discontinued and appropriate treatment should be sought. When using this medication, it is advisable to use it for the minimum duration after performing susceptibility tests to prevent the emergence of resistant bacteria. There may be interactions with other medications, so caution is required, especially when combined with probenecid, nephrotoxic drugs, anticoagulants, oral contraceptives, and some antibiotics. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication if the benefits outweigh the risks, and breastfeeding women should use this medication carefully as it can be transmitted in small amounts through breast milk. Safety and efficacy in infants under 1 month old have not been established, so use should be avoided in this age group. In the elderly, the risk of adverse reactions may be increased due to decreased physical function, necessitating careful observation and adjustment of dosage and administration intervals. This medication may affect certain clinical test results, so caution should be exercised during testing.
