Precautions

This drug, being a beta-lactam antibiotic, should not be administered to patients with a history of allergic reactions to penicillin-based drugs. Special caution is necessary for patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia, as they have a higher risk of rash. Patients with a history of liver dysfunction or jaundice should also be cautious, as symptoms may recur with this medication. Patients with reduced liver function or severe renal impairment may experience increased drug concentration, so dosing intervals should be adjusted or used cautiously. Patients with allergic tendencies, those who have difficulty with oral ingestion, elderly patients, and those in poor general health are at risk of side effects such as Vitamin K deficiency. Gastrointestinal side effects may include diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain; in severe cases, conditions like pseudomembranous colitis can occur, so the drug should be discontinued immediately if symptoms worsen. Rarely, signs of liver dysfunction may appear, requiring extra caution for elderly or long-term users. Skin rashes, itching, and severe allergic reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome have been reported, and if any rash or abnormal reaction occurs, discontinue use immediately and consult healthcare professionals. Blood-related issues such as transient leukopenia or anemia could arise, necessitating regular blood tests during prolonged use. Central nervous system side effects may include rare occurrences of headaches, dizziness, and seizures; patients with decreased kidney function should be vigilant regarding the risk of kidney damage. During medication use, it is critical to confirm sensitivity and adhere to the minimum treatment duration, as emergency treatment may be needed in cases of allergic reactions. In pregnant women, this medication should only be administered if necessary, and nursing mothers should discontinue use if adverse reactions occur in the infant. Caution is required in children, particularly in infants under 2 months, due to the lack of established safety. Elderly patients may be more susceptible to side effects due to decreased physiological function, necessitating adjustments in dosage and administration intervals. This medication may interact with other drugs; therefore, inform healthcare professionals of any medications currently being taken. In the case of overdose, gastrointestinal symptoms and kidney damage may occur; discontinue use immediately and seek appropriate treatment. Store the medication in a sealed container, as it is sensitive to air and moisture, and keep it in a cool, dry place below 25 degrees Celsius to maintain its effectiveness.
