Treatment for fungal infections caused by dermatophytes (such as athlete's foot, tinea corporis, etc.) and onychomycosis.
This medication is used for the treatment of athlete's foot, tinea corporis, tinea cruris, and onychomycosis caused by dermatophytes in adults, as well as tinea capitis in children.
As Terbinafine, administer 125 mg once, twice a day, or 250 mg once a day. The duration of administration depends on the condition as follows. 1) Dermatophyte infections Athlete's foot (interdigital type, plantar type/moccasin type): 2-6 weeks Tinea corporis: 2-4 weeks Tinea cruris: 2-4 weeks 2) Onychomycosis Usually treated for 6 weeks to 3 months. For infections of the toenails or relatively small toes, or for younger patients, the treatment duration may be less than 3 months. The treatment period for toenail infections is usually sufficient at 3 months, but in some patients, it may take 6 months or longer. In patients with slow nail growth, the treatment period may be prolonged.
Administer to children over 2 years of age. Tinea capitis: 4 weeks of treatment. 1) Weight under 20 kg (under 5 years old): Administer 62.5 mg once a day. Due to the lack of administration experience, the benefits and risks of treatment must be considered.
This medicine is not recommended for patients with chronic or active liver diseases. You must check for a history of liver disease before using this medication. Liver function tests should be performed regularly before and during treatment, as liver function abnormalities may occur. If liver function test results increase, discontinue the medication immediately. If symptoms such as nausea, reduced appetite, fatigue, vomiting, upper abdominal pain, jaundice, dark urine, and loose stools occur during treatment, notify your doctor right away. Serious liver damage such as liver failure can occur rarely, so testing should be done immediately if liver function problems are suspected. This medication should not be used if you are allergic to it or its components. Patients with blood disorders, severe renal failure, infants under 2 years of age, and nursing mothers should not take this medicine. Patients with lactose intolerance should also avoid this medication. Caution should be exercised when administering this drug to patients with decreased kidney function, elderly patients, and children weighing less than 20 kg. If severe skin rash or allergic reactions occur during the medication, discontinue it immediately and consult your doctor. This medication should only be used for fungal infections that are difficult to treat topically, and caution is needed when driving or operating machinery if dizziness occurs. There may be interactions with other medications, so consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medications. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully weigh the risks and benefits of this medication, and nursing mothers should discontinue breastfeeding while using this drug. In case of overdose, symptoms may include headache, nausea, abdominal pain, dizziness, and immediate medical attention is necessary. This medicine should be kept out of reach of children and stored at room temperature away from direct sunlight.
